Andy Mitchell-Maynard of Norwalk surrendered at the New Canaan Police Department on Thursday on the active warrant. He was arrested and charged with forgery, larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny and conspiracy dating back to incidents earlier this year.

On March 3, the New Canaan Police Department received a report of illegal activity involving fraudulent checks, which prompted an investigation by the Investigative Section.

Investigators found that on Feb. 26, Mitchell-Maynard and two others - whose names have not been released - deposited a counterfeit check for approximately $5,000 into a bank account. The following day, a withdrawal was made in the same amount. An arrest warrant for Mitchell-Maynard was issued that day.

Mitchell-Maynard is being held in police custody in lieu of $5,000 bond. He is due to appear in court at a later date to answer the charges.
